Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-efficacy with the mediating role of self-compassion in students.
Method: The current research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the present study included all male students in the 9th district of Tehran who were studying in the second period of secondary school in the academic year 2022-23. Therefore, the sample size of the research was determined based on Kline's point of view of 300 people. In order to sample with the purposeful and available sampling method, the statistical sample of the research was selected by referring to the first secondary schools of the 9th district of Tehran. The tools used to collect information included Schwartz's General Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (1995), King's Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire (2008), and Neff's Self-Compassion Questionnaire (2003). The collected data were analyzed with AMOS and SPSS software and structural equation model.
Findings: The direct effect of spiritual intelligence on self-compassion (β = 0.27 and t = 3.11) is significant. Also, the direct effect of spiritual intelligence on self-efficacy (β = 0.30 and t = 3.25) is significant. Finally, the direct effect of self-compassion on self-efficacy (β=0.33 and t=3.41) is also significant. The indirect effect of spiritual intelligence on self-efficacy is 0.09 and the total effect is 0.39.
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that in the relationship between spiritual intelligence and self-efficacy, the variable of self-compassion as a mediator can strengthen this relationship.
