Objective: This study aimed to explore the factors influencing social behavior change in patients with anxiety disorders.
Methods and Materials: This qualitative research utilized semi-structured interviews. A total of 24 patients diagnosed with anxiety disorders, living in Tehran, were selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using NVivo software and thematic analysis. Data collection continued until theoretical saturation was reached.
Findings: The results revealed that three main factors influenced social behavior change: social interactions, individual and psychological characteristics, and environmental and social factors. Social support from family and friends played a key role in improving social behavior. Additionally, traits such as self-confidence and coping ability were found to facilitate social behavior. On the other hand, social and economic pressures, along with environmental constraints like work and family conditions, were identified as barriers to social behavior improvement.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that to improve the social behaviors of patients with anxiety disorders, enhancing social support and creating supportive environments is essential. Individual and group interventions should be designed considering the unique characteristics of each patient.
