Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to identify the psychological and social factors that influence the reduction of depression symptoms after psychological treatments.

Methods and Materials: This qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed through thematic analysis using Nvivo software, with theoretical saturation reached. The participants were 20 individuals from Tehran who had undergone psychological treatments for depression.

Findings: The findings revealed that three key factors contribute to the reduction of depression symptoms after treatment: self-awareness, emotional regulation, and social support. Self-awareness helps patients identify and manage their emotions, while emotional regulation strategies such as cognitive restructuring and mindfulness aid in alleviating depressive symptoms. Furthermore, social support from family and friends provides individuals with a sense of security and reinforcement, which facilitates faster recovery.

Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that the combination of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and social support positively impacts the reduction of depression symptoms following psychological treatments. It is recommended that therapists incorporate these factors into the therapeutic process to enhance treatment outcomes.
