Background and Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on anger control and the meaning of life.
Method: The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all women referring to the Peer Counseling Center located in Pasdaran, Tehran, who were selected as a statistical sample based on the pre-test scores in the questionnaires and were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups after matching. The Anger Control Questionnaire by Bass and Perry (1992) and the Meaning of Life Questionnaire by Steger et al. (2006) were used. Findings: The results of the analysis of covariance showed that the obtained eta square (0.150) showed a significant relationship between the independent variable (educational intervention) and the dependent variable (anger). In other words, about 0.15 percent of the variance in anger is explained by the educational intervention. Also, the adjusted mean scores suggest that the experimental group that was under training had a significant change in the quality of life variable compared to the control group. Finally, the experimental group that was under training had a significant increase in the meaning of life compared to the control group, and 16.6% of the variance was explained by the training intervention. . Conclusion: Emotion-focused therapy can increase anger control and meaning of life.
