Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the phenomenological relationships between patients with chronic illnesses and their recovery process in psychological interventions.
Methods and Materials: This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews to collect data from 24 patients with chronic illnesses living in Tehran. Data were analyzed using open coding and NVivo software. All interviews were coded meticulously and analyzed until theoretical saturation was reached.
Findings: The results of this study revealed three main factors influencing the recovery process of patients: 1) Positive emotional relationships between patients and therapists, 2) The impact of psychological interventions (especially cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness), and 3) Therapeutic environment characteristics (safe and supportive space). Patients reported that supportive relationships with therapists helped reduce anxiety and depression, fostering greater hope. Psychological interventions played a significant role in improving quality of life and reducing stress and depression.
Conclusion: This study showed that psychological interventions, particularly cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness, can contribute to the recovery process of patients with chronic illnesses. Positive therapeutic relationships and a secure therapeutic environment also have a significant impact on the mental well-being of patients.
